Just fill, freeze, and pull the lever to cleanly cut your cubes. This ice cube tray is made of high quality 18-8, 304 food grade stainless steel. Please be aware that it has been re-constructed out of stainless steel based on an antique aluminum model. We suggest not using aluminum ice cube trays available on E-bay or at a garage sale as tiny particles of toxic aluminum could end up in your iced tea. Please be sure to clean well before and after using - it is dishwasher-safe. There are many little nooks and crannies in the mechanism, so food residue and dust can get caught. For these little spaces we suggest using a Q-tip with vinegar or baking soda in warm water.
